Hi everyone,
To all GSLs, ESLs, ADCs, and District Exec  - Please forward to your teams.

1. Jamboree on the Internet The District will be again participating in the Jamboree on the Internet (JOTI) which is the biggest Annual Global Scouting event, with thousands of Scouts joining in across the world.  All sections are welcome to come along and talk to other Scouts from all parts of the world, from USA to Australia and everywhere in between. Our session is on Saturday afternoon (21st October) at Wood End School and starts at noon. The day is split into slots of 2 hours each. It's a fun afternoon, where Scouts are guaranteed to talk online to other Scouts from many countries as well as playing online Scouting games and puzzles.

Venue: Wood End School, Junior Building - please use School car park at Wood End Road (there will be signs)
Requirements:  1 leader from each section coming.  Uniform optional; no equipment required to be brought; water and squash provided.
Activities: Online safety briefing; going online to talk to scouts from across the world (think of some good questions); mark on the map where you have spoken to; play the online Jamboree puzzle game; optional international activity - Scouts against Malaria

If interested, please email Richard Bird on 4thbird@gmail.com

2. World Scout Jamboree - If you are too old to be a participant, but still want be involved, you can still apply to be part of the International Service Team.  IST applications are open until 6pm on Friday 13th October - http://ukcontingent.co.uk/jamboree-2019/wsj-ist-zone/

Helpers needed in the scout shop for one or two times a year - 10 to 15 percent discount for helpers.  Please contact Liz Jack at lizjack00@hotmail.com

I am attaching a draft email that I would ask all GSLs and ESLs to please cut and paste and send to your parents/leaders.

4.  Orienteering Challenge - Everyone is invited to take part in an Orienteering event in Rothamsted Park on 7th October - see attached flyer.  For those Scouts intending to take part in Green Beret this year, this would be great practice for the orienteering part of Green Beret.  They can either take part individually or in pairs. Scout Leaders - if teams of your Scouts are going to attend, please let me know names and dates of birth so that I can pre-register.  There will be a prize for the winning registered Scout.  It is just £2 to enter on the day (and £1 to hire the timing chip)

5.  International Matters - Please find attached September’s Edition of International Matters
